Roma has initiated first contacts for Lautaro Rivero, a 22-year-old defender from River Plate who is also involved with the Argentine national team. Two observers from the club have directly watched the player. Although his release clause is set at 100 million euros, the Italian club intends to propose a figure around twenty million euros to encourage River Plate to negotiate a transfer. The potential signing of the Argentine center-back would require the departure of either Ndicka or Ziolkowski. Rivero, who has one cap for Argentina, joined his current club in January 2024 and is under contract until the end of 2029. His current market value is estimated by Transfermarkt at €7.00m. Several other clubs, including Leeds United, Lazio, and Inter, have also been linked with the player.
