Cruzeiro has agreed to loan 27-year-old Argentinian striker Lautaro Díaz to Santos, with the expectation that he will remain with the Santista team until mid-2026. Lautaro was omitted from Cruzeiro's squad for the match against São Paulo. It was reported that the player is not part of Leonardo Jardim's plans, as he only played three matches under the Portuguese coach in the past three months. Lautaro joined Cruzeiro in 2024 after the club spent 3 million dollars to acquire 70% of his economic rights from Independiente del Valle. This transfer to Santos is facilitated by the fact that Lautaro has not yet played his seventh game in the Campeonato Brasileiro, thus making him eligible to represent Santos in the competition. Díaz, who has a contract with Cruzeiro until June 2028, currently has a market value of €1.50 million according to Transfermarkt, and was also rumored to be considering a move to San Lorenzo.
