Lorient have released Laurent Abergel, a 33-year-old French midfielder who was under contract until June 2029. Abergel, who joined the club in July 2019, announced his departure and explained that he had decided to give his career a new direction. In the 2025/2026 Ligue 1 season, he made 28 appearances and scored one goal. According to L'Équipe, Abergel is expected to join OGC Nice and sign a three-year contract. The publication indicates this could happen at the end of the week. At Nice, he will reunite with his former coach, Olivier Pantaloni.
