According to rumours, a prominent Super League club, identified as either Panathinaikos or AEK, made an exploratory approach to 33-year-old Greek international Kostas Fortounis about a potential return to Greece for a team other than Olympiacos. This interest has emerged while Fortounis is reportedly pursuing a return to Olympiacos from his current team, Al Khaleej. Fortounis, who was linked with both clubs during the 2023-2024 season, joined Al Khaleej in August 2024.
