Kastriot Imeri has left BSC Young Boys and moved to Bundesliga club Union Berlin, where he will reunite with coach Mauro Lustrinelli, with whom he won the championship at Thun in the previous season. Imeri stated that the move to Union is a big challenge and a huge opportunity for him in one of the strongest leagues in the world. He said that being successful there with Union is a challenge he gladly accepts. According to the player, another important factor for him was the prospect of working with Mauro again, as they know each other very well from their time together in Switzerland where they have achieved special successes. Imeri is now looking forward to getting to know the team and the club, contributing his qualities, and working towards a successful season. The reported transfer fee is 2.4 million euros. Imeri joined YB in the summer of 2022 and was under contract there until the end of this season.

According to "Blick", an agreement has been reached for Kastriot Imeri to move to Union Berlin in the German Bundesliga. The signing is scheduled to take place on Monday, and a transfer fee of three million Swiss francs has been mentioned. This was the last opportunity for BSC Young Boys to receive a suitable transfer fee because Imeri's contract was set to expire in less than a year. Imeri will be reunited with coach Mauro Lustrinelli, with whom he won the Swiss championship last season.

Union Berlin's new coach, Mauro Lustrinelli, is internally advocating for the signing of Kastriot Imeri. The 26-year-old midfielder spent the last season on loan at FC Thun, where he became a key player under Lustrinelli, contributing six goals and eight assists in 30 league games. Lustrinelli is considered a mentor to the one-time Swiss international. The loan agreement with Thun included a purchase option, which the club allowed to expire. Imeri is contracted to his parent club, BSC Young Boys, until 2027. He joined Young Boys in August 2022 and has a current Transfermarkt market value of €2.00m.
