Julien Laporte Transfer from Lorient to Montpellier

L'Équipe has reported on Julien Laporte's decision to depart FC Lorient to join Montpellier on a three-year contract. Laporte, who was nearing the end of his contract with FC Lorient on June 30, chose to leave the club even though it had been promoted to Ligue 1. He has agreed to a three-year deal with Montpellier, which is set to compete in Ligue 2 next season. FC Lorient had proposed a one-year contract extension to him, with the possibility of an additional year contingent upon maintaining their Ligue 1 status. The club president, Loïc Féry, stated that they would honor Laporte's decision, noting the dynamic nature of the football industry.

Julien Laporte is coming to the end of his journey and contract at Lorient. The 31-year-old central defender, who formed a strong partnership in the heart of the defense with Tunisian international Montassar Talbi, is expected to move to Montpellier. Laporte's departure marks the end of his tenure with Lorient as they prepare for changes in their defensive lineup amid their return to Ligue 1. Currently, Transfermarkt estimates his market worth at 1.20 million euros.
