Bayer Leverkusen has intervened in negotiations AFC Sunderland was holding to sign 32-year-old Swiss international Jonas Omlin. A deal for the goalkeeper is nearly finalized, with a medical check scheduled for the upcoming Monday. Leverkusen has reached an agreement with Borussia Mönchengladbach for a loan without a purchase option. Omlin is under contract with Borussia Mönchengladbach until 2027, has been the second-choice keeper behind Moritz Nicolas this season, and has not yet made an appearance. The transfer is a reaction by Leverkusen to the injury of their first-choice goalkeeper, Mark Flekken. Omlin has four caps for Switzerland. Borussia Mönchengladbach paid a €9.0 million fee to sign him from Montpellier in January 2023. His current market value is €1.50m, according to Transfermarkt.
