South American journalist Vene Casagrande reported that two offers were submitted to the management of AC Sparta Praha for John Mercado close together in time, reportedly reaching up to 8 million euros. Sources of eFotbal.cz confirmed that both offers were rejected by Sparta. Casagrande also reported that agent André Cury is continuing to work on arranging the transfer because Mercado wants to join Vasco da Gama. However, Sparta does not want to allow the player to leave in this transfer window.

John Mercado has confirmed that Vasco da Gama is intensely seeking to sign him, stating that the offer from the club is real. He added that the decision is now between the clubs, which are attempting to negotiate, and that he is currently focusing on his own club, where he believes his contract runs for two more seasons. Mercado also mentioned that playing in Brazil is an attractive opportunity for him due to his past experience in Athletico Paranaense's youth setup and advice from his compatriot Angelo Preciado, who encouraged him to make the transfer. Sparta Prague rejected the proposals from the Brazilian club, despite improved offers.

According to Globo.com, negotiations are ongoing for John Mercado's potential transfer to Vasco. The Sparta Praga player has responded positively to the possibility of playing for the club. The club's board had a proposal of about 7 million euros rejected, but negotiations for a positive outcome continue.

Vasco is negotiating for John Mercado, a 24-year-old Ecuadorian winger from Sparta Praga, and has submitted an initial offer of approximately 7 million euros. The Czech club has not yet opened talks, but Vasco's persistence is partly due to the player's expressed desire to join the club. Admar Lopes is scheduled to resume direct talks with the Czech club's directors this week, and Mercado is under contract until June 2029.
