João Silva has signed for Tondela, joining the club to increase the defensive options for manager Cristiano Bacci. The 27-year-old Portuguese central defender arrives on loan from Brazilian side Sport Recife, with Tondela holding a purchase option at the end of the season. This move is a return to Portuguese football for the player, who was formed at SC Braga and Sporting before spells abroad. Silva played 22 matches and scored one goal for Sport Recife last year. His contract with the Brazilian club is valid until December 2027 and he has one cap for the Portugal U20 national team. His current Transfermarkt market value is €1.50m.
