Joan Martínez Transfer from Real Madrid II to Liverpool
Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing Joan Martinez, an 18-year-old Spanish defender from Real Madrid. A report from the Spanish publication Marca states that Liverpool have been monitoring the player and recently sent scouts to watch him. The same report describes Martinez as a prized young player for Real Madrid and notes that it would be surprising if the Spanish club sold a player they consider important for their future. The defender has a £132 million release clause, a figure considered unlikely for any club to pay, but Liverpool might attempt to negotiate a lower price. The English club is seeking to add defensive quality and depth and has also recently signed the young player Giovanni Leoni. This season, Martinez has made 13 appearances and scored one goal for Real Madrid Castilla in the Primera Federación. The defender is under contract until June 2029 and has been capped by Spain at the U19 level. According to Transfermarkt, he has a market value of €3.00m. Borussia Dortmund have also reportedly been interested in the player.
