A report from Globo.com concerning Jefferson Savarino's potential move to São Paulo stated that the reason previous swap deals involving the player did not advance was that his family is fully settled in Rio de Janeiro.
Globo.com reported that São Paulo's attempt to sign Savarino from Botafogo was not successful.
According to Globo.com, São Paulo made a request for Savarino from Botafogo as part of player exchange negotiations that have been in progress for weeks. São Paulo is now more pessimistic regarding the possibility of these exchanges because of a lack of progress.
São Paulo's priority is to sign a midfielder who has better statistics and can play frequently, with Botafogo's Jefferson Savarino identified as a target. The 29-year-old Venezuelan international has 51 caps and 4 goals for his country. He scored 20 goals for Botafogo over the last two seasons since joining in January 2024. To make a deal for the player possible, São Paulo might include their midfielder Rodriguinho as part of a trade with Botafogo. Savarino's contract runs until the end of 2028. According to Transfermarkt, he has a current market value of €9.00m. Savarino has also been linked with Olympique Lyonnais.
