São Paulo ended negotiations to sign forward Jamie Vardy. According to ESPN, the club considers the financial demands made by Vardy to be too high for its current financial situation. The report also states that Jamie Vardy is available on a free transfer.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano first published, and ESPN confirmed, that São Paulo made initial contact to try to sign Jamie Vardy. According to the report, a negotiation with the striker is not yet underway, but his name is considered a 'market opportunity' after the board received and evaluated the veteran's situation. There are differing views on the potential signing. Some believe that Jamie Vardy, who is physically and technically well, would bring a new mentality to the club. Others think it could be risky because of his age and the financial values involved. Vardy is a 39-year-old historic Leicester striker and is reportedly without a club after a stint at Cremonese, where he scored seven goals in his last 29 games. As a free agent, he would arrive without transfer costs.

São Paulo have made a surprise approach to sign 39-year-old English striker and Leicester City legend Jamie Vardy on a free transfer. The Brazilian side is attempting to persuade Vardy, who is currently assessing several options and has not yet made a final decision on his future club. Vardy, who has 26 caps and 7 goals for England, has also been linked with West Ham United and Sevilla. His current market value is estimated by Transfermarkt to be €1.00m.
