Manchester City are reportedly offering goalkeeper James Trafford to Newcastle United in an attempt to sign Tino Livramento. A report from TEAMtalk claims he could already be offloaded by the club. Newcastle were also one of the clubs interested in Trafford while he was at Burnley. Manchester City signed Trafford from Burnley this summer and afterwards also brought in Gianluigi Donnarumma. Donnarumma is now Pep Guardiola’s number one.
Newcastle United had previously been interested in signing 23-year-old English goalkeeper James Trafford to compete with Nick Pope. However, Manchester City activated a £27 million buy-back option for the former Burnley goalkeeper. As a result, Newcastle signed Aaron Ramsdale. James Trafford's ambitions are now unlikely to be fulfilled at City. The Manchester Evening News has described a departure as looking inevitable. A January move might be necessary if Trafford aims to make the World Cup squad. In the 2025/2026 Premier League season to date, Trafford has made three appearances. The uncapped goalkeeper's contract with the club is valid until 2030. His current market value is estimated by Transfermarkt to be €30.00m.
