James Rodríguez Transfer to Atlético Nacional

Atlético Nacional has reportedly decided against pursuing a deal for the 34-year-old Colombian free agent James Rodríguez. The management of the club does not contemplate signing Rodríguez because the player's high salary is unaffordable for the institution, and the club considers the position to be adequately staffed with alternatives including Juan Manuel Rengifo, Edwin Cardona, José Bauzá, and Eduard Bello. Previously, Junior de Barranquilla's majority shareholder, Fuad Char, had stated they would not pursue the player, while Millonarios' president, Enrique Camacho, acknowledged they were not working on such an idea. While Rodríguez would be training at the club's facility to maintain his physical condition and competitive rhythm, this does not mean there is any ongoing negotiation or a formal offer from Nacional. The midfielder has 122 caps and 31 goals for Colombia and has a current market value of €2.00m, according to Transfermarkt. In addition to the Colombian clubs, he has been linked with teams in Mexico and the MLS, such as Cruz Azul and Columbus Crew.
