Jakub Martinec is set to leave FK Jablonec after a five-year stint to join Sparta Praha, having signed a multi-year contract with the club. The transfer was made public by Sparta's interim sports director, Tomáš Sivok, who commended Martinec for his defensive skills and versatility. Due to roster restrictions, Martinec will not be able to participate in Sparta's UEFA Conference League matches in the autumn, but he will be available for domestic competitions. During his time at Jablonec, where he played 158 competitive matches, Martinec was one of the team's most consistently utilized players, known for his reliability and leadership in defense. He is capable of playing both as a central defender and on the flank in a three-man defensive setup. In the previous season, Martinec was among the top four players in ball recoveries and ranked within the top ten for total passes, also showcasing his strength in aerial duels.
