In an interview with Kanał Sportowy, Jakub Łabojko said that negotiations over a new contract with Motor Lublin failed in the final stage. Łabojko admitted that he wanted to stay at Motor Lublin. Regarding his move to Piast Gliwice, he said it is his hometown club where he played for many years and to which he always returns with fondness. He added that his parents, parents-in-law, and grandparents are nearby and that it is his home. Łabojko stated that he had planned to stay at Motor and an agreement was near, but one was not reached at the stage of finalizing the contract details. He then received an offer from Piast and agreed to it.

Jakub Łabojko has left Motor Lublin after a one-and-a-half-year period with the club, during which he was an important part of the team, making 29 appearances and scoring one goal in the past season. Shortly after his departure was announced on a Wednesday, Piast Gliwice confirmed the 28-year-old Polish midfielder's arrival. Łabojko, a youth product of Piast, has signed a two-year contract with an option to extend, returning to his hometown club after an absence of nearly ten years. He has one cap for the Poland U21 team and his market value is estimated by Transfermarkt at €300k.
