Jakob Breum, who joined Go Ahead Eagles in July 2023, is expected to leave the club for Saint-Étienne. The 22-year-old Danish attacking midfielder has been capped 6 times for the Denmark U21 team; he did not train on Thursday and instead traveled to France for a medical examination. Celtic had also recently been mentioned as a potential destination for the player, along with Fulham and Sunderland. Celtic's interest began in the summer of 2025, at which time the club reportedly had multiple bids of up to £3 million rejected. Because his contract has only one year remaining, Go Ahead Eagles is compelled to sell him this summer. The club's director, Jan Willem van Dop, recently stated that he was considering a transfer fee of approximately €3.5 to €4 million for Breum. Breum's current valuation according to Transfermarkt is €5.00m, and the final transfer amount has not yet been reported.
