Schalke 04 are interested in the 25-year-old Portuguese and Cape Verdean left-back Iuri Tavares, but no club-to-club discussions have taken place yet. An initial offer for the NK Varaždin player from another interested club, Bursaspor, was rejected. Other outlets reported that the bid was considered too low. Tavares has made one appearance for Cape Verde and has a contract with the Croatian club that runs until 2028. He joined Varaždin in July 2025 on a free transfer from Charlotte FC. The American club reportedly retains a 20% sell-on clause. His current market value is estimated by Transfermarkt to be €1.20m.
