It was announced by U.S. Sassuolo Calcio that the club has exercised its right to definitively acquire Ismaël Koné from Olympique de Marseille. The activation of the purchase option will cost Sassuolo 13 million euros.

Ismaël Koné is joining Sassuolo on a permanent transfer from Olympique de Marseille, where he was on loan since last summer. Sassuolo has officially decided to purchase the Canadian international immediately. This decision comes despite the original purchase option being set to become mandatory only if Sassuolo were to stay in Serie A for the 2025-2026 season. Olympique de Marseille will receive 13 million euros for the transfer.

Ismaël Koné, who was loaned to Sassuolo at the start of the season because he was unable to establish himself at OM, is expected to make his move permanent. According to information from Foot Marseille, Sassuolo is set to sign the midfielder, and the transfer is contingent on a mandatory purchase option that will be exercised at the end of the season if the club remains in Serie A. The transfer fee set by OM is €10 million. Koné's initial contract with Marseille was due to run until June 30, 2029.
