Ismael Kandouss leaving Gent?

Ismaël Kandouss moves to RS Berkane in Morocco. The 27-year-old defender signed a contract with the club that won the championship in the Moroccan first division last season. It's a permanent transfer. Kandouss returns to his homeland after being loaned to Al-Orobah in Saudi Arabia last season. He was not able to secure a place in the team under coach Ivan Leko this summer.

For Kandouss, a return to Morocco is imminent as RS Berkane has expressed interest in him. According to Africafoot, the transfer of the 27-year-old is already finalized. Kandouss reportedly passed his medical examination on Tuesday morning and subsequently signed a two-year contract with an option for extension. AA Gent receives a decent transfer fee from the deal, amounting to 1.5 million euros, which is a reasonable return for an unwanted player and barely a loss on their initial investment.

Ismaël Kandouss has attracted concrete interest from Renaissance Sportive de Berkane in Morocco's Botola Pro Inwi. Advanced talks are underway to facilitate his departure. AA Gent would be satisfied to remove his lucrative salary from their books.

Moroccan defender Ismaël Kandouss, 27, is not part of the first team and is not expected to be given another chance at AA Gent, following his loan to Al-Orobah. His contract with the Belgian club runs until June 30, 2027, and his market value is estimated by Transfermarkt to be €2.00m.
