Toluca has entered into negotiations to acquire Ignacio Arce for the Apertura 2025. Arce, a 33-year-old Argentine goalkeeper, is currently with Deportivo Riestra. Deportivo Riestra ended the season in fifth place in Group B of the Argentine League and was subsequently ousted by Huracán in the playoffs. The transfer is part of Toluca's strategy to bolster their goalkeeping lineup following challenges faced during the Clausura tournament. As the reigning Liga MX champions, Toluca is targeting a back-to-back championship and is considering Arce as a potential replacement for Pau López. López's inconsistent performances have resulted in him losing the starting spot to Luis García Palomera, who was the first-choice goalkeeper during the latter stages of the tournament, culminating in the championship match against América.
