Tabakovic spent the previous season on loan at Borussia Mönchengladbach, where he scored 15 goals in 35 competitive matches. Marcus Mann, Salzburg's Managing Director of Sport, stated that they had been looking for a center forward with a clear profile, specifically a player who can help immediately, has physical presence and personality, and possesses goal-scoring ability. Mann said Haris brings these components, has scored consistently at his previous clubs, and knows the Austrian league very well. He added that with his leadership qualities, experience, and physicality, Tabakovic will be an important influence on their young team and that they are happy to welcome him to Salzburg.

Sky Sport Deutschland reports that Haris Tabakovic is expected to move to FC Red Bull Salzburg. There is a complete agreement between TSG Hoffenheim and FC Red Bull Salzburg, and Tabakovic has also agreed to join Salzburg. Tabakovic will receive a contract until 2029, and the medical check is scheduled for Friday.
