Hakim Sahabo Transfer from AEK Athens to Rapid Vienna

1h ago

Hakim Sahabo, who is not part of manager Marko Nikolic's plans at AEK after not gaining his trust during the summer pre-season, was expected to continue his career in the Austrian league with Rapid Vienna. The midfielder holds both Rwandan and Belgian citizenship and was acquired from Standard Liège last February. The two clubs were close to an agreement for a loan deal for him, and APOEL had also shown interest. However, shortly after reports emerged, AEK announced that a loan for the 21-year-old player to the Vienna-based team was not possible. AEK explained that this was due to time limits, because the transfer window in Austria had closed the day before. AEK emphasized that they are still seeking the most suitable option for the player, with the aim for him to join a club where he will be considered a starter, preferably abroad. Sahabo's contract with AEK is valid until the summer of 2029. The Rwandan international has 13 caps and one goal, and his current market value on Transfermarkt is €1.50m. His transfer from Standard Liège to AEK in February 2026 was for a fee of €1.5 million. In January 2026, it was reported that Standard Liège's initial demand was €2.8 million, and it was said that Rangers had made an unsuccessful six-figure bid for the player.
