Reports had previously suggested that 21-year-old Portuguese midfielder Gustavo Sá was moving to West Ham from the Portuguese club Famalicão, before he signed for Nottingham Forest. However, the midfielder stated that he did not know anything about the supposed opportunity. Sá recalled being on Azurara beach in Vila do Conde when he received many messages and stories which claimed he was moving to London for West Ham. He explained that he was never aware of any negotiations and had no knowledge of an agreement between the clubs. After joining Forest, Sá was immediately loaned to Olympiacos Piraeus until June 2027. The Portugal U21 international, who has 15 caps for his country, also attracted interest from several other clubs, including Benfica, Roma, and Juventus. Transfermarkt estimates his current market value to be €25.00m.
