Union SG intends to acquire 23-year-old American winger Griffin Yow on a free transfer in the summer. The club will not attempt to sign him in January or offer a transfer fee to Westerlo. Other Belgian clubs are also interested in Yow; AA Gent, Anderlecht, Royal Antwerp FC, and Club Brugge have all included him on their shortlists, although none have taken decisive action. Westerlo previously rejected offers for the player valued between €1 million and €1.5 million. The club instead demanded a €4 million fee, which no club was willing to pay. The player's unwillingness to sign a new contract also influences his situation. Besides the interest from Belgian clubs, there are possibilities for Yow to play abroad. A return to Major League Soccer is considered a possibility, and several top clubs there are reportedly interested. For Westerlo this season, Yow has scored 3 goals in 16 Jupiler Pro League appearances. He joined the club from DC United in July 2022 for a reported fee of €91,000. According to Transfermarkt, his current market value is €2.50m.
