Everton registered an interest in Netherlands Under-21 international Givairo Read earlier this summer, but Roma are now the most likely club to sign the Feyenoord full-back. According to sources, the availability of Champions League football has been a significant factor in convincing Read that a move to the Italian club is the correct move for his career. Nottingham Forest attempted to sign the 20-year-old, and sources confirmed they submitted three separate offers, the last of which was around €23 million, but they were unable to meet Feyenoord's valuation. Roma has now met the €25 million asking price and is confident of completing the deal. Both Arsenal and Liverpool have scouted Read extensively over the past year, while Fulham and Bournemouth also held talks over a potential move. Everton, meanwhile, are now pursuing Celtic right-back Alistair Johnston. Read joined Feyenoord in July 2024 and his current contract runs until 2029; he recorded 3 goals and 10 assists in 43 Eredivisie appearances last season.
