According to Team Talk, Liverpool is contemplating the acquisition of 18-year-old Italian centre-back Giovanni Leoni as a backup plan to Marc Guehi. The club is considering Leoni as a potential signing if negotiations for Guehi do not succeed. Leoni has attracted attention from several top Italian clubs as well. Liverpool's interest is genuine, and they are making progress behind the scenes. Parma rejected an informal bid from Tottenham, who valued Leoni at approximately €35m (£30.2m), as the club is demanding at least €40m (£34.5m) in guaranteed fees. Leoni, whose contract with Parma runs until June 2029, has a market value estimated by Transfermarkt at €18.00m.
