Watford have confirmed the sale of Giorgi Chakvetadze to Udinese, ending his three-year period with the club. The fee paid by Udinese is undisclosed, though The Watford Observer has been told it was independently verified in Italy and at the higher end of what was considered fair. Group technical director Gian Luca Nani said that Giorgi felt it was time to challenge himself in a different league after three seasons in the Championship. Nani stated that once that became clear, they explored the best option for the club and the player. After offers from around Europe, the technical department decided to keep a very talented player in the group, which still provides Giorgi with the opportunity to play top-level football in Serie A. Nani also said Giorgi has been a highly professional player at Watford and it feels it is the correct time in his career to permit him to experience playing in one of Europe’s top leagues against some major teams.

Udinese has announced the arrival of Giorgi Chakvetadze, according to Tuttomercato. The Georgian midfielder joins from Watford after three seasons in England. The player has moved on a permanent deal and signed a contract that will expire in June 2030.
