Newcastle United is among a group of Premier League clubs monitoring Benfica's 20-year-old Argentinian winger, Gianluca Prestianni. His development in Portugal has reportedly renewed interest from clubs in England. Sources have confirmed that in addition to Newcastle, scouts from Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United, and Brighton have observed his progress in recent months to assess if he is ready for a subsequent career move. Many of these English clubs had previously monitored Prestianni while he was at Velez Sarsfield, prior to his 2024 transfer to Benfica. No formal approaches are currently being prepared, but Benfica is aware of the increased attention and wants to secure the player with a new long-term contract. The interested clubs' situation is currently at the monitoring stage, involving information gathering instead of pursuing negotiations. The player has one cap for Argentina, and his current market value is €40.00m, according to Transfermarkt. Benfica signed Prestianni from Vélez Sarsfield in January 2024 for a fee reported to be €9 million. The club rejected an €8 million offer from River Plate in December 2025. It was reported that in July 2026, Benfica's asking price was between €15 million and €22 million during a period of interest from Trabzonspor.
