Georgios Kyriakopoulos Transfer from Monza to Panathinaikos
Panathinaikos has almost completed the transfer of Giorgos Kyriakopoulos from Monza. Two months ago, it was believed that he had agreed with AEK. However, Panathinaikos managed to reach an agreement with the Italian club for a fee close to two million euros, fulfilling the player's desire to play for a major team. His contract will be worth 850,000 to 900,000 euros per year, for four years. The transfer was finalized ten days before the start of the pre-season and 26 days before leaving for Austria. The player is known for his strong left foot, excellent crosses, and passes.
Panathinaikos is reportedly making efforts to bring Giorgos Kyriakopoulos back to Greece. Although there is no official confirmation from the club, known as 'trifylli', they are believed to be concentrating on this transfer to bolster their left side. Kyriakopoulos is currently playing for Monza, which faced relegation from Serie A this season. Panathinaikos aims for him to play alongside Filip Mladenovic following the Serbian's contract renewal. The Greek left-back has been abroad since September 2019 after moving from Asteras AKTOR to Sassuolo, initially on loan before being permanently signed by the Italian club, and has also played for Bologna. He remains under contract with Monza for another year.
