According to the Saudi newspaper Al-Riyadhiah, the management of Al-Ittifaq have decided to postpone their final decision regarding the future of a number of their foreign players. The newspaper revealed that Georginio Wijnaldum remains the most prominent and only strong candidate for renewal at present. The 35-year-old central midfielder joined Al-Ettifaq in September 2023, and his current contract is set to expire in June 2026.
