According to Globo.com, Panathinaikos attempted to sign Gabriel Pereira in the current transfer window. The team's coach, Jacob Neestrup, who had previously coached Gabriel Pereira at Copenhagen, strongly advocated for the player's arrival, but Vasco was successful in the effort to sign him.

Bo Svensson has stated that the rumors about interest from Panathinaikos in Gabriel Pereira are untrue. Svensson added that he has not heard anything from his predecessor Jacob Neestrup about it and that there is no offer.

In recent weeks, Panathinaikos and Vasco da Gama have been active regarding Gabriel Pereira, contacting Copenhagen to ask about possible terms for the 26-year-old Brazilian centre-back. However, Panathinaikos denies that any negotiations are taking place for Gabriel Pereira and also denies any interest in the player. He joined the Danish club in August 2024, and his contract is valid until June 2029. Transfermarkt estimates his current market value to be €6.00m.
