Attacking midfielder Francis Turley has completed a deadline day loan move to Dumbarton from Premiership champions Celtic until January. The 20-year-old Northern Ireland U21 international, who first joined Celtic from Glentoran in 2022, signed a four-year deal at Celtic Park in the summer of 2024. Having already made his senior debut against St Mirren in 2024, Turley has also been training regularly with the first-team squad for the past two seasons. His prior experience includes time with Celtic’s Under-18s, playing for the B team in the Lowland League, and a loan spell at Ayr United in the Championship during the second half of last season. Dumbarton manager Frank McKeown described Turley as a very creative midfielder who is highly rated at Celtic, adding that the player likes to create chances and score goals. McKeown noted that after Turley spent time not being a regular part of their squad, Celtic decided it was best for his development to get weekly first-team football in the SPFL. The manager thanked everyone at both clubs for completing the deal, with Turley being immediately included in the squad for the upcoming game against Forfar Athletic. For Northern Ireland's U21 team, he has 2 caps and 1 goal, and his current market value is estimated by Transfermarkt to be €125k.
