Folarin Balogun Transfer from Monaco to Newcastle United
A growing number of clubs are interested in agreeing a transfer with Folarin Balogun's current employer, Monaco. It is reported that Balogun is keen on accepting a new challenge. According to The Athletic, Monaco could demand a fee of around $57 million (€50 million, £43 million) to sell the 24-year-old United States international centre-forward. It is claimed that Balogun could have suitors from almost all of Europe’s top leagues. During last summer’s transfer window, Newcastle United spent a huge sum of money but saw very little in return. Strikers were a key part of that transfer activity as Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa arrived for around $164 million (£124 million). Manager Eddie Howe quickly became dissatisfied with both and is already thought to be pursuing another starting striker. There could be significant playing time available to Balogun at Newcastle, and the funds could be raised if Newcastle sells some of its unwanted fringe players. Balogun, who has 29 caps and 11 goals for the United States, joined Monaco in August 2023 and his current contract expires in June 2028; he scored 13 goals and provided 5 assists in 30 Ligue 1 appearances in the 2025/2026 season.
