Néstor Gorosito, the coach of San Lorenzo, has identified 23-year-old Argentinian attacking midfielder Facundo Farías as his primary target to address the team's lack of attacking options. Gorosito knows Farías from their time together at Colón. The club's directors want to sign him for the coach, but Farías's large contract at Estudiantes is a significant obstacle, as it is unaffordable for them. Farías's role at Estudiantes has diminished. It is reported that he would be receptive to the move to Bajo Flores, but it is unclear what financial sacrifice he is willing to make. The San Lorenzo board is considering contacting the player's agent to negotiate terms. Other sources indicate that San Lorenzo intends to acquire Farías on a loan because of financial constraints, and that the club is also considering asking Estudiantes to cover part of his salary. It is not yet known what Estudiantes thinks of this possibility, given they invested in the player at the beginning of last year with a contract until December 2028 and only recently finished paying Inter Miami for the transfer after a FIFA sanction. However, removing the salary of a player who is not used frequently could be beneficial for them. In a press conference, Gorosito stated that he considers Farías one of the best players in Argentine football but acknowledged that the transfer is difficult. The deal is considered difficult due to the involvement of multiple parties, but it is not considered impossible. In the 2025/2026 season, Farías has made 12 domestic league appearances and has not yet played for the Argentinian national team. According to Transfermarkt, his current market value is €2.50m.
