Viking Stavanger, the Norwegian champions, are making ongoing efforts to sign 26-year-old Norwegian centre-forward Erik Botheim from Malmö FF. The clubs will begin a dialogue about Botheim and there is optimism about completing the deal before the Norwegian transfer window closes on Wednesday. NRK separately reports that the plan is for Botheim to arrive in Stavanger during the day to finalize a transfer, but this depends on whether the clubs can agree on a transfer fee. Malmö FF has previously been reported to demand around six million euros for Botheim. Botheim, who has two caps for Norway, has a contract with Malmö until the end of 2027 and has scored 10 goals in 19 league appearances this season. His current Transfermarkt market value is €3.50m. Other clubs, including Trabzonspor and PAOK, have also been recently linked with the striker, with reports in August 2026 stating both had submitted bids. In January 2022, he moved from Bodø/Glimt to Krasnodar for a reported €7.5 million.
