Emmanuel Chigozie Owen, a 19-year-old German U19 international and Nigerian winger, is joining FC Utrecht from Bayer Leverkusen. He has signed a contract with the Dutch Eredivisie club that runs until 2030. The attacking player, who has one cap for the Germany U19 team, moved to Leverkusen from TSG Hoffenheim two years ago. He departs two years before his contract was due to end and did not make a professional appearance for the club. During the 2025/2026 season, Owen scored 10 goals and had four assists in 18 appearances in Germany's U19 leagues. Bayer Leverkusen has a buy-back option. Kim Falkenberg, Bayer Leverkusen's Director of Football, stated that the club considers Owen a very interesting player and that they will follow his progress closely.
