According to CeltsAreHere, Al Ahly are preparing to offer 28-year-old Egyptian midfielder Emam Ashour a new contract worth more than 33 million EGP per season to keep him in Egypt. The proposed deal would make Ashour the highest-paid player in the Al Ahly squad. Ashour is already under contract until 2028. A new deal on improved terms would give the Egyptian club more control over his future. The midfielder, who has 34 caps for Egypt, joined Al Ahly in July 2023 for a reported €2.7 million and has recently been linked with clubs including Celtic, West Ham, and Brighton. In July 2026, reports suggested Celtic would need to pay approximately €4.7 million for Ashour. His Transfermarkt valuation is €4.0 million. Al Ahly reportedly rejected a €5.6 million offer from Neom in June 2026 and countered with an asking price of €9.3 million.
