Hull City, which is managed by Sergej Jakirović, has signed 24-year-old Swedish international Elliot Stroud from Mjällby. The club confirmed his arrival today. Stroud will continue his career in the Premier League. According to earlier information from Sky Sports, the deal is valued at around three million pounds, which is approximately 3.5 million euros. Genoa was also seriously interested in Stroud, but Hull City signed the player ahead of the Italian competition.

Genoa's claim of a prior agreement with Elliot Stroud and its threat of legal action could complicate Hull City's move for the Swedish international from Mjällby. Sky Sport Italia reports that Genoa intends to initiate legal proceedings against Stroud's representatives. The Italian club believes the player and his agents broke an agreement after Stroud decided at the last moment to accept a more financially attractive offer from Hull City. It is reported that Genoa had an agreement with both Mjällby and Stroud, and Stroud allegedly signed a pre-contract. Mjällby, however, claims it is not aware of any disputed pre-contract. Swedish and Italian media report that the deal with Hull City is practically finalized, but Hull has not officially confirmed the transfer.
