Edin Džeko Transfer from Fiorentina to Rapid Vienna
The 39-year-old Bosnian forward Edin Džeko was proposed to both SK Rapid and FK Austria Wien during the summer, a situation confirmed to the newspaper Kurier by the sporting directors from both clubs. According to the report, Džeko's representatives offered him to Rapid for a net annual salary of one million euros. However, Rapid's sporting director, Markus Katzer, clarified that the player's wage demand was two million euros, which made any deal financially unfeasible. He also pointed out that the subject of Džeko emerged before the club had discussions with Marko Arnautovic. Manuel Ortlechner, Austria's sporting director, conveyed that the offer wasn't given serious consideration, mentioning Džeko was one of approximately 300 players offered to the team. The forward eventually signed for AC Fiorentina in July. His deal with the Italian club is set to run until June 2026, and his market value is estimated by Transfermarkt at €1.6 million.
