Monza has reportedly joined other Serie A clubs in showing interest in Marseille's 28-year-old defender, Derek Cornelius. Sassuolo is said to no longer be in contention for the player, while Lecce continues to monitor him but is currently focused on other operations. Monza's manager, Ivan Juric, has requested reinforcements for his squad, including in central defence. The situation is only at the monitoring stage, and there are no advanced negotiations with Marseille. The French club is open to the Canadian's departure and would reportedly favour a loan with an option to buy. Cornelius, who has 48 caps for Canada, joined the French club in August 2024 and has a contract until 2028. Transfermarkt estimates his current market value at €2.5 million, and a reported purchase option in March 2026 was set at €4 million.
