Lecce has monitored Derek Cornelius but has not made a concrete move regarding the matter. The club is currently focused on other priority operations, specifically Ivan Ilic and Ali Dembélé from Torino.

Lecce have shown interest in Derek Cornelius, a 28-year-old Canadian centre-back who plays for Olympique Marseille. Lecce have opened talks for the player. Cornelius has 48 caps for his country and is under contract with the French club until 2028. Sassuolo and Genoa have also been linked with the defender. His current market value is estimated by Transfermarkt at €2.5 million. It was reported in March 2026 that a loan to Rangers included a €4 million purchase option. In August 2025, reports suggested Marseille was open to a sale for less than €5 million.
