Valeriu Iftime, the owner of FC Botoșani, declared he would not sign 26-year-old Romanian winger Dennis Politic from FCSB, even for free, because he believes he has better options in his squad on lower salaries. Speaking at VOYO Sport Live, Iftime called Politic a good Romanian player but stated he is not the kind of standout talent he needs at Botoșani, as he looks for players he can later sell. Meanwhile, Politic has the support of his coach at FCSB, Laurențiu Reghecampf, who is confident he can get the player back to top form. Fanatik.ro reported that the coach told owner Gigi Becali he would have Politic restored to good form by winter, enabling the club to recover its investment. Becali had previously expressed disappointment in the player, who was acquired last year for one million euros plus the transfer of Alexandru Musi. The one-cap Romania international's contract with FCSB runs until June 2029, and his current market value is estimated by Transfermarkt at €650k. FCSB's asking price for the player dropped from a reported €1 million in January 2026 to between €200,000 and €300,000 over the summer. Politic has also been linked with several other clubs, including Panaitolikos and a potential return to Dinamo Bucureşti.
