Makarov said the club had a strong interest in him and that he communicated with the sporting director, with the discussions proceeding well. He then explained that the club hired a coach who was not interested in him and said he could not take a Russian player. Makarov added that he does not know the reasons for this and that the coach simply said they could not take him. He also mentioned that they did not ask questions and thanked each other for the communication. Makarov revealed that during the first days of January, he had communicated frequently with the Chinese club through video and calls for a couple of days while he was in Sochi with his family.
