Denil Maldonado Transfer from Universitatea Craiova to Rubin Kazan

Denil Maldonado, a central defender aged 27, will transfer to Rubin Kazan from Universitatea Craiova for a fee of 800,000 euros. The transfer was confirmed by Mihai Rotaru, a shareholder of the club, in an intervention at GSP. Maldonado was initially loaned from Pachuca in the winter of 2023 and was permanently transferred last summer for 500,000 euros.

Denil Maldonado, a central defender from the Romanian club Universitatea and the Honduras national team, is nearing a transfer to Kazan's Rubin. According to journalist Ivan Karpov's report on his Telegram channel, the parties have reached an agreement on a transfer fee of €1 million. It is stated that the player and the club have come to terms on a four-season contract, which will be formalized pending a successful medical examination set for the middle of next week. In the previous season, the 27-year-old defender participated in 38 matches across all competitions, scoring four goals and providing one assist. His existing contract with Universitatea is effective until the summer of 2028.

After spending a year and a half at Universitatea Craiova, Maldonado, who was a key player under coach Mirel Rădoi, is making the move to Russia. In the recently concluded season, he was an undisputed starter for Craiova, making 38 appearances and scoring four goals.
