The newly promoted Croatian top-flight club Rudeš is in negotiations with the 37-year-old Croatian international Dejan Lovren. Lovren, a defender who is currently without a club, reportedly has a desire to continue playing football and has received offers from foreign clubs. Josip Šimunić, the president of Rudeš, confirmed to Sportske novosti that there is substance to the story and that discussions are in progress. Šimunić explained that he and Lovren are friends and that the discussions began informally between them about the player joining, before the concept became more serious. He also stated his belief that no HNL club other than Dinamo would be able to afford Lovren. A resolution is anticipated in the near future. There is also speculation that Lovren might retire or become part of Slaven Bilić's staff. Lovren has made 78 appearances for Croatia, scoring 5 goals, and his current market value on Transfermarkt is €400k.
