The clubs had an agreement that was at an advanced stage for a reported €6.5 million, but the deal paused due to a disagreement over personal terms for the player and his agents. Among the teams that consequently re-approached Botafogo are Zenit, CSKA Moscow, and Torino from Italy. Zenit, the team from Saint Petersburg, is considering David Ricardo as a potential replacement in the event that the Brazilian Nino departs.
