George Alaba stated that David Alaba has received calls from Austria. He said that they want the move and David wants it too. George Alaba added that at the moment it is too early for him, but a return can happen in the future.

In a post-match interview, Austria Wien captain Aleksandar Dragovic addressed speculation about the club contacting his friend David Alaba, a 34-year-old Austrian centre-back who is currently without a club. Dragovic was responding to comments made by Frenkie Schinkels on the "GelbRot" podcast, where Schinkels had suggested that the entire club board should be confined if no one had approached Alaba. Dragovic questioned if people genuinely believe Austria Wien would be so foolish as to not have called the player. The captain added that while some people may want to be amusing and attract online attention with such statements, they should be more reserved, asserting that the club is not inactive in Wien-Favoriten. The defender has 117 caps and 15 goals for Austria and has been linked with clubs such as Lazio and Club América. His market value is estimated by Transfermarkt to be €3.00m.
