Chelsea has one remaining loan spot available at their French partner club, Strasbourg, and it could be taken by defensive midfielder Dário Essugo. The 21-year-old Portuguese player is reportedly very interested in the move. Essugo joined the London club from Sporting CP last summer for €22 million and has played 26 minutes in the Premier League during the 2025-2026 season. His profile is considered more useful to Hugo Oliveira than that of Ukrainian forward Mykhailo Mudryk. Mudryk is also said to be unenthusiastic about a move to Strasbourg. Essugo has 8 caps for Portugal's U21 team and has a contract with Chelsea until 2033. According to Transfermarkt, his current market value is €15.00m.
