Westerlo has launched a late attempt to acquire 27-year-old Belgian forward Dante Vanzeir from KAA Gent. Sacha Tavolieri reported that talks between the clubs regarding the striker's transfer had reached an advanced stage. Gent is eager to part ways with Vanzeir, who is reportedly no longer part of the manager's plans just six months after joining and has a contract until mid-2028. Although Westerlo is trying to persuade the player, the financial side of the transfer is a challenge due to a substantial salary disparity. According to Het Nieuwsblad, Gent's bid to send Vanzeir to Westerlo, which included a failed effort to involve Griffin Yow, will not succeed. The same outlet noted that barring a very surprising development, a deal will not be completed this window, and Vanzeir is expected to stay at Gent. Transfermarkt estimates the player's current market value at €5.00m.
